Crimson Lotus Tea
Crimson Lotus Tea is a Seattle area puerh tea import and education company run by Glen Bowers, and his wife Dawa Lamu. Glen grew up in Seattle and was a total coffee geek until he found puerh. Lamu is a Tibetan born in the Himalayas and raised in Yunnan.
Puerh tea is the fuel that drives their passions; both literally and figuratively. They exclusively deal in puerh tea and gongfu style brewing accessories. They spent three months this Spring in Yunnan, China sourcing high quality puerh teas. They bring to the festival their amazing stories of tea hunting adventures, photographs of the people who produce these teas, excellent puerh tea, and beautiful tea wares.

Two friends who have known each other for more than 30 years founded Effie's Homemade. Joan MacIsaac and Irene Costello began their partnership with their first company, Ruby Chard Cooking Classes.
Whether teaching classes or creating wholesale crackers, crisps and biscuits, we have always believed that great flavors come from quality ingredients, simply prepared.
The inspiration for our company comes from Joan’s mom, Effie MacLellan, and her recipe for oatcakes. Effie grew up on a rural farm in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Like many traditional farmhouse recipes, we realized the uniqueness of oatcakes is in its honest and simple flavors. All of our products are based upon this premise as we rekindle old-fashioned and forgotten recipes.
Also inspiring us are memories of growing up in households where family time revolves around dinner and where company is always welcome. We cherish the time spent at the table sharing stories and laughter alongside homemade meals.

The Elmwood Inn Fine Teas story began in 1990 when Shelley Richardson opened a tea room in the Civil War village of Perryville, Kentucky - just as the American tea renaissance was about to awaken. For the next 14 years, Elmwood Inn developed an international reputation as one of America's favorite locations for a traditional afternoon tea. Bruce and Shelley Richardson chronicled their life in tea through three books and eventually launched a tea importing and wholesale packaging company - Elmwood Inn Fine Teas. After serving thousands of guests, the tea room closed on July 31, 2004 in order for the family to focus on their expanding tea and publishing businesses.
From their new Danville, Kentucky facility, Elmwood Inn Fine Teas imports, blends and packages teas for hotels, retailers, gourmet grocers, restaurants, tea bars, coffee shops and museums across North America, while Benjamin Press is now the largest publisher of tea books in America.
Being long-time educators, the Richardsons felt the need to share their tea talents with eager students. Since 2000, over 400 aspiring tea entrepreneurs from across the world have attended their annual TEA MasterClass. Friends of Fire is a wood-fired ceramic art collective with a mission to share and educate on our devotional practice of working with the elements. Our passion for working with clay and fire manifests as a community based, collaborative exercise that yields a variety of uniquely beautiful objects. These clay objects have been alchemically changed through the firing process, and are imbued with the energy of the fire as well as that of the firing crew. The wood-fire process is a prime example of what can be accomplished when a group of people come together to achieve a shared goal, and in doing so we all become a part of something that is larger than anyone of us. Through this we live in the heart of collaboration, and thus empower one another to achieve our collective goals as well as personal goals.
Harney & Sons was founded in 1983 in Salisbury, Connecticut and is now based in Millerton, New York. Specializing in high-quality loose teas and tisanes, and offer several products that are organic and certified kosher.
Harney & Sons distributes to restaurants, hotels, and specialty shops. Institutions that serve their teas include Barnes & Noble cafés (which offer Harney teas exclusively), Four Seasons Hotels, and the Hotel Affinia in Chicago. A Harney & Sons tasting room, tea shop is located in Millerton, where the company has a factory. On November 16, 2010, the company opened a tasting room in Soho, New York City. James Norwood Pratt – “Norwood” – has served the cause of tea around the world for more than thirty years. Since the first edition of his classic Tea Lover’s Treasury appeared in 1982, he has been a presence on the international tea scene, becoming Honorary Director of America’s first traditional Chinese tea house, International Juror of India’s first-ever tea competition, “Best Tea Educator” four successive years, and a John Harney Lifetime Achievement Award recipient at the 2015 World Tea Expo.
He is the author of James Norwood Pratt’s Tea Dictionary, the worldwide tea trade’s seminal reference work and is America’s acknowledged Tea Sage. He lives with his wife Valerie Turner Pratt in San Francisco. Mr. Pratt is quite possibly the world’s most widely-read authority on tea and tea lore, thanks to books translated into multiple languages and numerous columns, articles, and print and TV interviews in US and overseas media.
His landmark James Norwood Pratt’s Tea Dictionary was named Best New Publication by the World Tea Expo in 2010. He appears in several films and theatrical productions.

We believe that the best tea begins with high-quality dirt. Through the Chagusaba method, the farm carefully cultivates crops of thick grasses around their tea trees so that they provide added nutrients directly to the soil as a compostable blanket every winter. The farmers also collaborate with researchers from Shizuoka University to study soil and the impacts that its sweetness has on the taste of the tea it cultivates.
This labor-intensive process protects plant delicate roots while giving each tree the nutrition it needs to grow, ensuring that only the best leaves make it into their tea. This longer processing leads to a bolder flavor filled with the health-enhancing amino acid Theanine with smoother mouthfeel, and a subtle hint of sweetness and far less astringency.
The Japanese tea shop Jugetsudo was started in 1980 by Maruyama Nori, the nori (dried seaweed) merchant that was founded in 1854. A British Isles Bakery
Lá Liath, pronounced la lee-ah, is Irish for "grey day." The name was chosen to reflect the usual Seattle weather, as well as to create a place where people could come to escape those grey days with a pastry and a cup of tea.
Bakery owner Marenka, pronounced Ma-zhen-ka, has a love for all things tea and pastry, as well as her partner, cat, and cookbooks. She hopes that everyone can find something they like to eat at her bakery!
The focus is on baked goods from the British Isles, such as scones, tarts, shortbread tea cakes. Many of the items come in a variety of flavors and are easy to handle while walk around or with a cup of tea in hand.
Eating allergen free is a lifestyle we began over 15 years ago as a young family with the birth of our older daughter, who has multiple food allergies including the top 8 – wheat, dairy, soy, eggs, nuts, peanuts, fish and shellfish, as well as corn, rice, yeast and potatoes, among others. Our other three children also have allergies to nuts, eggs and seafood.
Recipes were born of necessity when we discovered that all the usual ingredients for gluten free goodies were also allergens to us. With a desire for inclusion and a taste for sweets, I looked to my Asian roots, experimenting with ingredients atypical to the Western palate to invent our cakes and cookies. I continue to experiment with new ingredients and play with old recipes to expand our offerings. We find our baked goods tempting and tasty and hope you do too!

We source tea from about 20 different origins all over the world and also offer special tea-related demonstrations, classes, and experiences. Young Mountain Tea is working with local farmers to build the Kumaon tea region in the Indian Himalayas and introducing its teas to international markets.
We've partnered with the families leading Kumaon's tea revival to raise the quality of their teas, direct import the teas to the US, and build a market for these regionally-branded teas. One day, Kumaon will have the same global recognition as Darjeeling and be the first region to be built and owned by local communities. All of our teas are single origin, loose-leaf, unblended teas from India and Nepal."
